CDE Onboarding

This page provides an overview of the onboarding process for external partners working in our CDE environments.

Onboarding is required before accessing or submitting project documents. Following the steps below helps ensure timely access and avoids delays.


Who needs to be onboarded

Onboarding is required for:

  • External consultants and subconsultants
  • Joint venture partners
  • Vendors required to upload, review, or manage project files
  • Temporary external team members

Internal staff should follow internal onboarding procedures.


Onboarding overview

Onboarding typically follows these steps:

  1. Confirm project assignment
    You must be formally added to the project by the project manager.

  2. Request access
    Submit an access request with all required information to the JMT project manager.

  3. Access is reviewed and approved
    The request is reviewed and approved by the project team and DCOE.

  4. Account and permissions are configured
    Access is granted based on your approved role and you will be notified through email.

  5. Begin working in ProjectWise
    Follow folder standards, naming conventions, and usage expectations.


Step 1: Confirm project assignment

Before requesting access, confirm that:

  • You are authorized to work on the project
  • You know the project name or project number
  • You understand your role on the project

If you are unsure, contact your project manager before proceeding.


Step 2: Request access

Access requests must include complete and accurate information.

Incomplete requests may be delayed.


Step 3: Access review and setup

Once submitted:

  • The request is reviewed for completeness
  • Project approval is confirmed (if required)
  • Permissions are assigned based on role

Typical turnaround time is 1–2 business days, depending on approvals.


Step 4: Getting started

After access is granted, all users are expected to:

  • Check files out before editing
  • Check files back in when complete
  • Use the approved folder structure
  • Follow project and file naming standards
  • Avoid creating unauthorized folders
